ASI and the Conekt Group Combine to Build an Integrated, Governed ICT Platform for South African Enterprise

By Trevane Paul, CEO of ASI Conekt Holdings, and Herman de Vries, CEO of ASI Connect

South African enterprises are facing unprecedented levels of cyber risk, cloud complexity, and compliance demands that outpace the capabilities of their legacy technology infrastructure. Compounding this challenge, operational management is heavily fractured across multiple vendors, leaving a critical gap in end-to-end accountability.

ASI, a Level 1 B-BBEE investment group, has made a strategic investment in the Conekt Group (including Conekt (Pty) Ltd and Secure Conekt (Pty) Ltd), establishing a majority ownership position in the Johannesburg-based managed ICT provider, now trading as ASI Connect. The partnership brings more than thirty years of enterprise managed services experience into ASI’s connectivity and ICT vertical, combining this expertise with the group’s capital resources, national platform and transformation credentials.

For clients, the proposition is a single accountable partner across the full technology estate: infrastructure and servers, corporate and hybrid cloud, connectivity, workplace support, hardware supply, and cybersecurity with 24/7 monitoring and response.

Active governance underpins the entire ecosystem. Compliance obligation, particularly, POPIA rarely survive when fragmented across four different suppliers and matching siloed records. To solve this, ASI Connect delivers unified, ISO 27001-certified security, service desk, and cloud operations under strict board-level oversight. The resulting audit-ready reporting allows regulated organisations to explicitly prove operational control, rather than just describe it.

The Conekt Group delivers deep operational expertise, backed by three decades of enterprise relationships, a 24/7 security operations centre, and robust capabilities across managed services, business continuity, cloud, and infrastructure. ASI injects the market scale, strategic transformation framework, and balance sheet strength required to rapidly accelerate and expand these capabilities to a broader client base.

“This partnership combines deep technical experience with a shared commitment to client success, security and meaningful transformation,” said Nicholas Govender, Executive: Partner Relations at ASI. “Together we have the opportunity to build a substantial South African ICT platform that delivers both commercial value and lasting impact.”

Trevane Paul, CEO of the Conekt Group, added: “Clients do not buy technology. They buy the confidence that it will hold, through a breach attempt, an audit, a load-shedding week. What changes for them now is reach and resilience: the same team and the same accountability, with the platform, the governance discipline and the transformation credentials of the ASI Group behind it.”

The investment also strengthens the procurement position of clients who must demonstrate genuine transformation in their supply chain. ASI’s Level 1 B-BBEE status carries 135% procurement recognition verified, not engineered and now applies across the full ICT stack rather than a portion of it.

For existing clients, nothing changes in the immediate term. The same trusted teams, contacts and service commitments remain in place, with broader capability and the resources to scale behind them.
